Our Love Story

Our love story began on May 24, 1997.

It started simply—with two people who happened to be neighbors.

Ikoy had already noticed me when I was still young. I didn’t know that the boy from the neighborhood would someday become the man I would choose to spend my life with.

When I was in high school, the road to their place was part of my everyday walk. I would pass by without knowing that one day, that same road would lead me to a love story that would change my life forever.

Until one day, habang naglalakad ako, may tumawag sa akin…

“Idol!”

Hahaha! 😄

Paglingon ko, si Ikoy pala.

And somehow, that simple little moment became the beginning of us.

But our love story was never easy.

There was an age gap. There were people who questioned us. There were doubts, challenges, and many reasons why our relationship could have ended before it even truly began.

But I chose him.

I fought for him.

I fought for the person I believed I could spend my life with. I fought for the love that my heart had chosen, even when not everyone understood.

And on May 24, 1997, our journey as a couple began.

We were young. We didn’t know what the future would look like. We didn’t know how many challenges we would face or how much life would change us.

But we stayed.

We grew together.

We built a family together.

And today, after all these years, we are blessed with three beautiful children—our greatest gifts and reminders of how far our love has brought us.

And now, life has given us another beautiful chapter…

From being two young people who simply found each other in the neighborhood, we became husband and wife, parents, and now grandparents.

When I look back, I realize how amazing God’s timing is.

That little girl walking down the road to school could never have imagined that the man who once called her “Idol” would become her partner in life, the father of her children, and now the grandfather of her first grandchild.

May 24, 1997 — that was when our love began.

And after all these years, our story continues.

Because true love isn’t about having a perfect journey.

It’s about choosing each other again and again—

through the good days, the hard days, the growing, the changing, the family, and every chapter that life brings.

And if I were given the chance to go back to that road, to that moment, to that simple “Idol!”…

I would still turn around.

And I would still choose you, Ikoy.

30 years of love.
