Our Love Story
Perhaps some love stories begin with a grand, cinematic collision, but this one began with something much more profound: perfect timing.
In the months leading up to August 2018, James and Aira were standing on the threshold of a massive life change—the daunting, exciting leap into medical school. As they prepared for this new season, entirely focused on their dreams of becoming doctors, they were completely unaware that God was quietly orchestrating a beautiful new beginning for their hearts as well. When August finally arrived, they found themselves placed in the exact same room at the Freshmen Orientation for Cagayan State University-College of Medicine. They were two strangers, embarking on the same demanding journey.
James noticed Aira first, captivated by the effortless confidence in how she spoke. Aira, in all honesty, barely noticed James at all. But perhaps that was exactly how their story was meant to unfold—a quiet foundation built slowly and naturally.
They became classmates, friends, and eventual groupmates in nearly every subject. Conversations that started strictly about lectures, exams, and requirements slowly began to soften. Amidst the teasing of their classmates—who saw the undeniable spark before James and Aira fully admitted it to themselves—late-night study chats turned into long, anticipated calls. Naturally, James made the first move. Their first intentional date was simple: coffee after Medicine Week. Nothing extravagant, just two people realizing that what they had found was incredibly rare.
On November 3, 2018, they officially became a couple.
From that moment, their love story became a story of growing up side by side. They navigated the immense pressure of medical school together, surviving study dates that turned into sleepless nights, sharing in victories, and comforting each other through disappointments. James was always the steady, secure presence. Aira brought endless joy, warmth, and a fiercely caring heart. Through graduation, internships, and board exams, to James entering residency and Aira serving as a Doctor to the Barrio, their lives grew busier and their responsibilities heavier.
Yet, one truth remained brilliantly constant: they never stopped choosing each other.
Even when medicine demanded more than they thought they could give, they made time. They didn't just fall in love; they grew into the people they were always meant to be, together. Their story has always felt carefully written by God—two people meeting at the exact right time, in the exact right place.
There was never a question of if. They somehow always knew there would be a when.
Years after that first orientation, the boy who noticed the girl first finally asked the question they both already knew the answer to. On January 1, 2026, just past midnight beneath the New Year's fireworks in Pamplona, Cagayan, James got down on one knee, surrounded by their dearest loved ones. He had a speech perfectly practiced, though the nerves beautifully took over when the moment arrived.
For Aira, seeing the man who had been her constant through every season asking for forever, there was not a single second of hesitation. She said yes.
Through every season, on ordinary days and in extraordinary moments, the truth has always remained simple: they are each other's greatest blessing and surest constant.
It is only fitting that their greatest new beginning shares the exact same date as their very first. Exactly eight years after they became official, on November 3, 2026, they will say "I do" to a lifetime together.
The when they always knew would come has finally arrived.
James and Aira are getting married.
Ecclesiastes 3:11 "He has made everything beautiful in its time."
